FAQs

  • I hear this a lot and I’ve been there myself. Functional care can sometimes feel like medical care in disguise, turning into a cycle of running more labs and adding more supplements without actually getting to the heart of the issue.

Here’s how my approach is different:

    • Foundations first. We focus on nutrition, lifestyle, stress, and environment before layering on protocols. This builds a foundation for real healing instead of chasing quick fixes.

    • Intentional use of labs. I don’t run every test just because it exists. Labs are used selectively: when they’ll truly give us insight and help guide decisions.

    • Personalized, step-by-step. You’ll never be handed a giant supplement protocol and left to figure it out alone. I walk with you, adjusting as your body responds.

    • Whole-body healing. My goal isn’t just to calm symptoms for a while, it’s to help you reconnect with your body, build trust in it, and create lasting change.

  • No. I do not diagnose, treat, or cure disease. My role is to help you understand your body better and support healing through nutrition, lifestyle, and root-cause strategies that work alongside your conventional care.

  • I do not accept insurance at this time. However, I do accept HSA/FSA payments, so you can use those funds for you payments.

Due to the holistic and wellness-based nature of my work, I do not provide superbills or submit insurance claims. My services are focused on personalized nutrition and integrative health, which generally aren't covered under traditional insurance plans.

If you have any questions or need further details, feel free to reach out!

  • Not at all. Some of my clients have those labels, but many just know something feels “off” and they want answers.

  • In my experience, about four months is the sweet spot for doing a true deep dive. It gives us the time to assess your lifestyle, uncover root causes, implement changes, and actually see the body respond.

From there, I work month-to-month with clients for as long as my support feels helpful for their healing journey.

  • While everyone’s timeline is unique, many clients begin noticing early shifts within the first few weeks. True root-cause healing happens over months, which is why I prioritize a longer-term, sustainable approach.

  • We start with your story and health history, then use labs (when appropriate), nutrition, lifestyle shifts, and supplement support to create a personalized plan. I’ll guide you step by step, and we’ll adjust along the way.

  • If you’re feeling better but still want support, you can transition into my alumni program. This gives you continued access to resources along with discounted follow-up calls, so you can get guidance as needed without staying in the full program.

  • I offer one-off consults for those who are interested in taking a deeper look into their current health status but are not sure if they want to commit to a coaching program.

    • If you choose to lab test, I will give you access to discounted functional lab tests that can be completed in the comfort of your home.

    • I will provide a 60-75 minute consult to review results and provide recommendations for treatment

If you feel that you need further guidance on how to implement my recommendations, you can enroll into my Functional Nutrition program where I will provide you with a nutrition plan, supplement guidance, and an individualized wellness plan while guiding you every step of the way.

If you choose to enroll in the coaching program, the price of this session will be credited to the cost of the program.

  • Functional medicine lab testing focuses on identifying underlying root causes of health issues by examining biomarkers, genetics, and environmental factors, while traditional medical testing typically diagnoses diseases based on symptoms and abnormalities.

Functional lab testing is not focused on diagnosing disease, but rather on assessing how the body is functioning at a cellular and biochemical level to identify imbalances or early signs of potential health issues before they manifest as diseases.

  • All lab testing is done in the comfort of your own home!

After you check out with your at-home lab, it will arrive promptly to your door. Follow the easy instructions included for registering your test before you send in your sample(s). Make sure you use the same email you used for my coaching portal.

Each at-home lab comes with detailed instructions and supplies for collecting your test sample(s) and returning them to one of our CLIA certified lab testing facilities.

Once your samples have been processed, I will discuss next steps on when we will review your results.

  • It depends on what lab test we choose to run. Samples vary between urine, stool, saliva, hair, and/or blood (via finger prick).

  • Nope! Although highly recommended, testing is optional at The Journey Wellness and can be run at any time during your time working with me. Functional medicine lab testing can give you great insight into your current health state and ensures that we are implementing the right interventions. With that being said, I understand that testing may not be accessible to all for various reasons, and I want to respect that. ALOT can be achieved without lab testing, and I will still work with you to create a plan that will improve your health.

  • Yes! My whole practice is virtual. However, I do not work with clients outside of the U.S.

  • Yes. As a registered nurse, I’m familiar with how conventional medical systems work. In this role, my focus is on the nutrition and lifestyle factors that often don’t get addressed in short medical visits. I collaborate openly and encourage you to share updates with your provider, so that your care feels seamless.
